Results are estimates for education. Actual terms, rates, taxes, fees, compounding, and lender or investment conditions can change the outcome.
How this percentage calculator works
The result is part divided by whole, times 100. The difference row is whole minus part, not a percent-change figure. A zero whole is rejected because division by zero is undefined.
Important: Review the assumptions shown under each input. Changing one assumption can materially change the result.
When to use this calculator
- Find what share one number is of another (for example 25 of 200).
- Convert a part and a base into a percentage.
- Use a different method for percent change (new minus old, divided by old). This page does not compute that.

Frequently asked questions
Can the result be more than 100%?
Yes, if the part is larger than the whole.
Is this the same as percent change?
No. This is a share of a base. Percent change needs a starting value and a new value.
Why is a zero whole rejected?
A percentage of zero is undefined. Enter a non-zero base.
