Talreon Editorial Team

Talreon calculators and guides are written with AI assistance and reviewed by the Talreon team. We do not list named authors or credentials, and the team are not licensed financial, tax or legal advisers. Our content is educational, not professional financial, tax, legal or investment advice.

How we use AI

  • We use AI writing tools to help draft and edit explanations, worked examples and FAQs.
  • AI tools do not set the calculator formulas or the figures we publish. Formulas are written and tested in the calculator code, and rates, thresholds and limits come from the official sources linked on each page.
  • No page is published straight from an AI tool. A person on the Talreon team reviews every page against the calculator and its sources first.
  • Every calculator and guide shows "Written with AI assistance · Reviewed by the Talreon team" so you know how it was made.

How pages are reviewed

  • Each calculator’s formulas are tested against hand-worked examples before publishing, and worked examples on the page are recalculated when the page changes.
  • Tax limits, rates and thresholds are checked against official government sources (IRS, CFPB, GOV.UK and HMRC, CRA, ATO, CPF, HDB, IRAS, KWSP) and the check date is recorded in the figures update log.
  • Dated figures are reviewed each January and April, and when an official source announces a change.
  • Worked examples use illustrative numbers and are labelled as estimates.

Sources policy

  • We prefer primary sources: government agencies, regulators and the original publishers of data (for example IRS, CFPB, Investor.gov, the FTC, GOV.UK and HMRC, the SBA and the World Gold Council).
  • Pages that rely on a rule, rate or threshold link to the source in a "Sources" section.
  • If we cannot verify a figure, we explain the idea in general terms instead of stating a number.
  • Advertising and affiliate relationships never change formulas, results or content. See the disclosure.

What we cover, and what we don't

Talreon focuses on everyday money maths: loans and mortgages, savings and interest, pricing and margins for small businesses, and selected tax and retirement rules in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. We don't recommend specific investments, rate individual lenders or tell readers what to do with their own money. Where a decision depends on personal circumstances, the page says so and points to the official source or to a licensed professional.

Our review checklist

Before a page goes live, and whenever it is materially revised, a reviewer on the Talreon team works through the same checklist:

  • Does every number in the text, the worked example and the FAQ match what the calculator returns for the same inputs?
  • Is each rate, limit or threshold linked to the agency that publishes it, and is it for the right tax year?
  • Are the assumptions and exclusions stated, for example "income tax not included" or "estimate before fees"?
  • Is anything worded as advice, a guarantee or a prediction? If so, it is rewritten as an explanation.
  • Does the page say who it applies to, such as country, tax year and type of borrower?

What the "Updated" date means

The date in each page’s byline shows when the page was last materially revised: new figures, new examples or a correction. It does not change for spelling or layout fixes.
