How your dividend is worked out
KWSP says the dividend is calculated on the balance in each account through the year, after that month's contributions and withdrawals, using a Modified Aggregate Daily Balance (MADB) method. A month's contribution starts earning from the last day of that contribution month until 31 December [KWSP].
To project how savings could grow at a chosen rate, try the compound interest calculator. It is an estimate only; past dividends do not guarantee future rates.
Step by step: check your own dividend
- Log in to the KWSP i-Akaun app or the i-Akaun (Member) web portal. New to i-Akaun? See our i-Akaun registration guide.
- Open your member statement for the year. KWSP says the yearly statement shows the dividend after it is declared [KWSP].
- No online access? KWSP lists Self-Service Terminals (SST) and EPF offices as alternatives [KWSP].
Fees and documents
KWSP does not list any fee for viewing your statement on the pages we checked. You need only your i-Akaun login (or MyKad at an SST / EPF office) [KWSP].
Simpanan Shariah and dividend purification
KWSP publishes the share of each year's Simpanan Konvensional dividend that Muslim members may choose to purify, because part of it comes from non-shariah-compliant investments. Purification is a personal decision; KWSP suggests consulting your state Islamic religious council [KWSP].
| Year | Purification rate of Simpanan Konvensional dividend |
|---|---|
| 2025 | 60% |
| 2024 | 61% |
| 2023 | 66% |
| 2022 | 73% |
| 2021 | 69% |
| 2020 | 69% |
| 2019 | 71% |
| 2018 | 68% |
| 2017 | 64% |
Since 1 April 2025, a switch to Simpanan Shariah takes effect on the first day of the following month (registrations in the last seven days of a month move one month further). Once it takes effect, you cannot switch back [KWSP].
