Worked example (our own arithmetic)
A resident with $50,000 of chargeable income: $550 on the first $40,000, plus 7% of $10,000 = $700, so $1,250 before any rebate. Chargeable income is your income after expenses, donations and reliefs, so it is usually lower than your salary.
Rebates
IRAS granted a Personal Income Tax Rebate of 60% of tax payable, capped at $200, for YA 2025, and 50% capped at $200 for YA 2024 [IRAS tax rates]. Rebates are announced Budget by Budget, so check IRAS for the year you are filing.
Non-residents
- Employment income: 15% flat or the resident rates, whichever gives the higher tax [IRAS tax rates].
- Director's fees, consultancy fees and most other income: 24% from YA 2024 (22% before) [IRAS tax rates].
