How to Use CPF MediSave in 2026: Outpatient Limits, Chronic Care, Family Use and the 2027 Changes
Last verified: 31 October 2026. Short answer: MediSave pays for approved medical costs for you and your spouse, children, parents, grandparents and siblings [CPF]. For chronic conditions under the Chronic Disease Management Programme, you can use up to S$500 a year, or S$700 for complex conditions, after a 15% cash co-payment (waived at your enrolled Healthier SG clinic) [CPF]. From 1 January 2027 these limits rise to S$700 and S$1,000 [CPF] [MOH]. To pay, tell the clinic or hospital you want to use MediSave; there is no separate application for chronic care [CPF].

Who you can use MediSave for
Your own MediSave can pay for your spouse, children, parents, grandparents or siblings. They can be any nationality, except grandparents and siblings, who must be Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents [CPF]. While working, you save between 8% and 10.5% of your monthly salary in MediSave [CPF].

| Outpatient treatment, patients aged 60+ (own or spouse's MediSave) | S$400 a year per patient [CPF] |

A patient counts as having complex chronic conditions if treated for two or more CDMP conditions, or for one CDMP condition with a recognised complication [CPF]. CDMP covers 23 approved conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders, asthma and major depression [CPF]. MediSave also covers vaccinations under the national schedules and recommended screenings such as mammograms for women aged 40 and above [CPF].
What changes on 1 January 2027
MOH is renaming MediSave500/700 the "MediSave Chronic and Preventive Care" scheme. The basic annual limit rises from S$500 to S$700, and the limit for complex chronic conditions from S$700 to S$1,000 [MOH]. CDMP will also cover hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism [CPF].

How to pay with MediSave, step by step
- Check the clinic accepts MediSave. All public healthcare institutions and MediSave-accredited private clinics and hospitals do [CPF].
- Tell the clinic or hospital that you want to use MediSave, yours or a family member's [CPF].
- For chronic care, the clinic checks eligibility and submits the withdrawal for you [CPF].
- Pay the cash portion, such as the 15% CDMP co-payment where it applies [CPF].
- Track what you have used on the CPF healthcare dashboard, logging in with Singpass [CPF].
Worked example (our own arithmetic)
A S$100 chronic care visit at a non-Healthier SG clinic needs a S$15 cash co-payment (15%), and S$85 can come from MediSave. Six such visits use S$510, just over the S$500 simple-condition limit for 2026, so the last S$10 would be paid in cash. Need a Singpass first? See our Singpass setup guide.
