How this roi calculator works
ROI is (ending value minus cost) divided by cost, shown as a percentage. It is a total return for the numbers you enter, not an annualized rate, and it does not time-weight cash flows.
Important: Review the assumptions shown under each input. Changing one assumption can materially change the result.
When to use this calculator
- Get a simple profit or loss percentage on one completed cost and ending value.
- Compare two finished deals without converting them to an annual rate.
- Use the investment-return calculator instead if you need CAGR over a number of years.

Frequently asked questions
Is this annualized?
No. A 20% ROI over two years is still shown as 20%, not 10% per year.
Can ROI be negative?
Yes. If the ending value is below cost, the percentage is a loss.
Are fees and taxes included?
Only if you build them into the cost or ending value. The tool does not add them.
